Ensuring Safety and Comfort During Surgery
At Northway Animal Emergency Clinic, your pet’s safety and comfort are our top priorities during every surgical procedure. We understand how stressful it is to have your pet in surgery, especially during an emergency, and we take every precaution to ensure their well-being from start to finish.
Comprehensive Pre-Surgical Assessment
Before your pet undergoes surgery, we perform a thorough evaluation to determine their overall health and ability to safely process anesthesia. This includes checking vital signs, running diagnostic tests if needed, and tailoring our anesthetic protocols to your pet’s individual needs. By taking these extra steps, we minimize risks and set the stage for a successful surgery.
Continuous Monitoring
During Surgery
Continuous Monitoring During Surgery
During the procedure, our highly trained team continuously monitors your pet’s vital signs, including heart rate, oxygen levels, blood pressure, and body temperature. Advanced monitoring equipment allows us to detect even the slightest changes and adjust care as needed in real time.
Tailored Pain
Management
Tailored Pain Management
We believe that pain management is integral to your pet’s comfort and recovery. Our team carefully selects the most appropriate pain relief methods, both during and after the surgery, to keep your pet as comfortable as possible. This includes using multimodal pain control strategies to address pain from multiple angles, ensuring a smoother recovery experience.
Post-Surgery Recovery and Home Care
While we do not currently provide overnight nursing care, your pet’s recovery is still a priority. After surgery, we’ll monitor them closely in our facility before they are discharged. When it’s time for your pet to return home or be transferred to your primary vet, we’ll provide detailed instructions for further care, including medications and follow-up steps.
We’ll also send all surgical notes and test results to your primary veterinarian, ensuring continuity of care and a smooth transition for any necessary follow-ups.
